The opportunity

Inner West Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Trades team as a Carpenter Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with your hands, building structures and working on construction sites if this appeals to you, a carpentry apprenticeship ticks all the right boxes .

What is the apprenticeship? 

This is a 48-month supported program where you will receive continuous assistance throughout the journey.
There will be on the job training and formal training and assessment completing a Certificate III in Carpentry over 48 months. 

You will work towards achieving the competencies outlined in a training plan, complete assigned training and assessments, and maintain a training record.

About the role

Carpenters often collaborate with other trades, such as plumbers, electricians, and painters, to complete larger projects.  In this role you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing council-owned buildings and assets, requiring both communication and planning skills. Apprentices are required to provide their own tools ordinarily used in carrying out the trade, occupation, duties and functions.

Remuneration

From $827.40 per week + 12% Superannuation + Tool allowance

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

  • Capacity to undertake and actively working towards a Certificate III in Carpentry over 48 months
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
  • NSW or equivalent WorkSafe recognised Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
  • Ability to communicate well with team, staff and customers.
