About the role

Are you passionate about sustainable infrastructure and ready to lead transformative transport projects? Inner West Council is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to spearhead the planning, management, and delivery of capital works focused on public Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. This pivotal role will drive the expansion of EV public charging infrastructure across the Inner West Local Government Area (LGA), including kerbside and council car park installations. You will lead cross-functional project teams, engage with the community, manage grants, and report to the Local Traffic Committee and Council. Your work will directly contribute to Council’s Community Strategic Plan, addressing social, environmental, economic, and governance objectives.

Please note this is a temporary role for up to 2 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of EV charging infrastructure projects.
  • Form and manage project control groups for scoping, stakeholder engagement, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Implement best practice project management systems and ensure projects are delivered within budget and timelines.
  • Monitor usage and performance of EV charging stations.
  • Coordinate grant applications and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Provide timely and effective reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to infrastructure strategy, asset management planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Remuneration

$109,977.92 to $132,135.64 + 12% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

  1. Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, project management, construction management or other appropriate discipline recognised by relevant Australian professional institute. 
  2. Comprehensive experience in successful project management of infrastructure works with the capacity to support innovative thinking. 
  3. Sound experience in the design and construction of civil infrastructure. 
  4. Highly developed project management, procurement and contract administration skills successfully utilised in delivering infrastructure services. 
  5. Strong interpersonal & communication skills (written & oral) together with proven ability for negotiation and conflict resolution. Ability to engage staff and stakeholders and work collaboratively. Ability to represent Council to external organisations, customers and members of the public. 
  6. Comprehensive budget management skills and experience. 
  7. Current NSW Class C Driver’s License.
