Coordinator, Strategic Investments and Properties
Expressions of interest are invited from current Council employees interested in a secondment role of Coordinator Strategic Investments and Properties for an initial period of 12 months with a possibility to extended to 24 months. This secondment role reports directly to the Strategic Investments and Properties Manager.
Council has a number of major properties upgrade projects that it needs to complete in the next 2 years, including the Leichhardt Oval upgrade, and the Strategic Investments and Properties Manager will be heavily involved in managing these projects. During this period, this Coordinator role will serve as the Manager’s second-in-charge and supervise the work and daily operations of the Strategic Investments and Property team.
In this role, you will coordinate the work and efforts of the Strategic Investments & Properties team in developing and implementing best practice for Council’s building assets in terms of development of investment and income opportunities as part of Councils Land & Property Strategy. You will lead the team in providing comprehensive business cases, feasibility analysis and maximising community benefits through commercial agreements such as Voluntary Planning Agreements. You will coordinate the implementation of commercial and business strategies and business plans to provide an ongoing income for Council business.
You will ensure that the team, which now includes Council’s Community Venues team, consistently works to meet its targets and commitments against their individual or team performance plans and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans. You will lead, coach and develop staff, facilitate partnerships across Council and help solve problems and resolve issues, and model achievement of goals and commitments.
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing property portfolios including the components of leases and licences, land classifications and zonings, property valuations and land sales/purchases. Solid knowledge of legislative and regulatory framework relevant to property and asset management, and significant experience and high-level skills in financial management, project and contract management, and stakeholder management are crucial to be successful in this role.
Among the key priorities and challenges for this secondment role include:
- Analyse, and coordinate the work plan for land and property sale, lease backs, change of use and divestment of property including but not limited to unused laneways.
- Investigate revenue generating entrepreneurial activities that may be applied to Council’s property folio within legislative and policy constraints.
- Develop reports to the Strategic Investment and Property Manager, Director, Leadership Team and Council to communicate recommendations.
- Coordinate all of council’s Leases/licences including community and commercial arrangements.
