About the role

The Senior Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Officer reports to and works closely with the PRCG Coordinator to undertake the outward-facing work that will build the reputation of the PRCG as a highly successful partnership focused on urban rivers. Within the Inner West Council host organisation, the role will work closely with the Senior Manager Environment and Sustainability and Manager Parks Planning and Ecology, as well working directly with business partners at member Councils and agencies such as Sydney Water, to promote the PRCG strategic plan and vision for the Parramatta River. The successful candidate will play be responsible for helping lead develop and manage the delivery of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies and initiatives that promote the PRCG, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and foster community awareness and involvement in PRCG strategies, plans and projects.

The PRCG is a regional collaboration of local councils, NSW government agencies, businesses, environmental groups and individuals working together voluntarily and cooperatively to improve the health of the Parramatta River and its catchment. This collaborative approach is essential for the sustainable management of the River and its catchment. Working together on regional environmental and catchment issues leads to cost efficiencies through shared resources such as staff time and technical expertise, establishes a stronger basis for funding applications, harnesses a powerful collective voice and supports local councils and in meeting their obligations to meet state-wide targets and strategic plans.

Remuneration

$98,542.08 to $110,097.00 (pro-rata based on between 21 to 28 hours per week) + Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

  1. Qualifications in Communications/ Media, Community Engagement, Environmental Management, Planning, Environmental Science or another relevant field of study and substantial relevant training and experience
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective stakeholder engagement strategies and plans that clarify roles and responsibilities, streamline reporting and communications, and strengthen stakeholder relations
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective communications and media strategies and plans that enhance the positive profile of an organisation and increase public understanding of and support for its projects, events, and activities
  4. Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts, websites, and other digital communication platforms.
