The complexity and diversity of the LGA offers huge scope of experience for planners and exposure to complex and large projects. Our team assess plans from industry leading architects and work on challenging and interesting issues and projects such as industrial conversions, mixed use developments, heritage conservation areas, flight paths, flood affected zones, view loss, foreshore and habitat areas, the Parramatta Road corridor urban transformation strategy and emerging sustainable development programme.
The Executive Planner position play a pivotal role in appearing as the expert planning witness in Land & Environment Court appeals received by Council, as well assessing development applications, mentoring, and guiding junior colleagues in the expert witness role and technical planning knowledge.
- Act as an expert witness for Council in the Land & Environment Court.
- To undertake assessment of complex applications in a professional manner within the legislative framework; and achieve high quality design solutions through negotiation and facilitation, where required.
- Foster a problem solving culture through guidance, coaching and mentoring and assisting other development assessment officers in negotiating high quality design solutions & technical guidance.

Salary of up to $150,000 + 11% Superannuation + Leaseback
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in urban planning, architecture or equivalent.
- High level of professional knowledge and skills of planning legislation and of planning concepts as they relate to development assessment.
- Extensive experience in development assessment including experience in assessing complex applications.
- Highly developed skills in effective communication, well developed report writing skills and clear oral communication.

Experience and highly developed skills as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court.

Experience in mentoring, conflict resolution and negotiation.
