About the role

The Inner West is seeking a motivated individual to join our dedicated Governance team. Reporting to the Business Paper Coordinator, you will provide administrative and governance support for meetings of elected Council, its committees and the Leadership Team of Inner West Council.

As Governance Support Officer (Business Paper Officer), you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of business papers; ensuring customer requests are processed in accordance with service standards and corporate policy and the tracking of Council resolutions. The position also provides general governance support and deputises for the Business Paper Coordinator during absences.

As part of this role you will be required to attend meetings outside of business hours.

Remuneration

$74,092.72 - $81,969.68 + Superannuation

Key responsibilities

1. Provide administrative support for meetings of elected Council, its committees and the Leadership and Executive Team of Inner West Council.
2. Assist in the production, publication and distribution of business papers and minutes plus the tracking of decisions and actions against them.
3. Support staff training and provide helpdesk support on business paper production processes and the business system applications used to access information on civic governance decision making and operations
4. Assist with production scheduling, issuing of notices etc.

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

  • Experience coordinating and distributing Board/Committee agendas and papers
  • Demonstrated skills taking meeting minutes and tracking decisions and actions against them
  • Superior organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to organise priorities to meet deadlines
