About the role

The Community Wellbeing team lead’s innovative community development practice in the strategic planning, management and integrated delivery of cost effective high quality, sustainable programs and initiatives to promote social inclusion.

This role will facilitate integrated and collaborative design and delivery of strategic projects, partnerships, education, awareness, advocacy, and preventative initiatives to increase participation, facilitate cultural awareness, ensure meaningful inclusion and improve health and wellbeing across the inner west.

You will undertake stakeholder engagement and management to address issues, respond to identified needs, engage innovative practice and to optimise the delivery of community initiatives, early intervention and to connect people to place and each other.  

Areas may include but not limited to:
volunteer management, support and specific projects engaging culturally and linguistically diverse communities (including refugee and asylum seekers),  domestic and family violence, homelessness, boarding houses, mental health, socially and economically vulnerable communities, LGBTQ communities, women and emerging special projects to foster wellbeing in the Inner West. Examples of current special projects include the Inner West World Pride events and the engagement and planning associated with the creation of an Inner West Pride Centre.

Working as part of the Community Wellbeing Team you will assist your unit in consistently working to meet its targets and commitments against the performance plans and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans. You will be community focused and work collaboratively with the Community Projects Coordinator and Manager Community Wellbeing, to ensure the success of the service unit.

Remuneration

$81,969.68 - $93,841.28 + Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

  1. Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication, collaboration, community engagement and stakeholder management skills including negotiation, facilitation and advocacy skills 
  2. High level analytical and problem-solving abilities with capacity to inspire or support innovative thinking and continuous improvement to support diversity and ensure meaningful inclusion for the people of the inner west
  3. Tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Community Development and / or equivalent industry experience.
  4. Experience in leading and managing community projects and initiatives and in applying evidence based practice.
