About the role

The Executive Assistant to the Mayor provides high-level administrative support to enable the Mayor to effectively fulfil civic responsibilities and community leadership duties. The role manages the Mayor’s schedule, correspondence, and briefings, acts as the first point of contact for stakeholders, and ensures the smooth flow of information between the Mayor, Councillors, Council staff, and the community.

Remuneration

$95,938.44 -  $109,977.92  + 12% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

  1. Tertiary qualifications in business administration (or a related field), or equivalent study or relevant experience, with strong senior executive support experience, ideally in local government or a comparable organisation.

  2. High level organisational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

  3. Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence, briefings, reports, and presentations, and to liaise confidently with a wide range of stakeholders (internal and external, including Councillors, community representatives, and government officials).

  4. Understanding of local government functions, issues and local government political structure, with a strong understanding of the sensitivities of working in a political and community focused environment, and the ability to exercise sound judgement, diplomacy, and confidentiality at all times.
  1. Interpersonal and relationship management skills, with demonstrated ability to engage effectively and professionally with diverse stakeholders, handle difficult situations calmly, and build strong working relationships.
