About the role

The Supervisor Community Nurseries is responsible for the operation of the Marrickville Community Nursery and Rozelle Community Nursery, including plant production, volunteer management, sales to the public and managing large external orders. The position will assist in regular reviews of current operations to achieve business excellence objectives, including continuous improvement to meet client and ecological needs.

Remuneration

$82,540.64 - $ 95,938.44 + 12% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

Horticultural Certificate and/or Nursery operations Certificate or equivalent.
Experience in nursery management.
Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of groups.
Experience in the management of volunteers.
Experience in seed collection and propagation of indigenous plants of the Sydney district.

Please outline your experience in the nursery or horticulture industry, including nursery management, integrated pest management, plant knowledge and identification skills, irrigation equipment maintenance, Health and Safety management systems and specific workplace hazards related to production of plants.*

Please provide an example of when you have led a group, facilitated group dynamics and supervised volunteers on a program or significant project where you have played a leadership role.*

The Inner West Council manages 24 ha of Natural Areas for ecological benefit and habitat values. Our nurseries supply provenance only plants from the Sydney basin. Please outline what seed collection and propagation experience you have in relation to conservation and ecosystem management.*

Describe how and when you first became interested in native plants and biodiversity, please provide particular examples of the plants of the Cooks River Valley and Parramatta River catchment areas and how your knowledge base in this field has grown over time.*
